| JAMES TSAO began his violin studies at age 7 in Los Angeles. At age 13, he made his solo debut with Youth Symphony West playing Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole. He received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. His former teachers include Joseph Fuchs, Margaret Pardee, and Joseph Smirnoff., where he was awarded the Irving Berlin Fellowship and the Samuel Gardner Prize in Violin. Other honors include a Boston Symphony Fellowship to perform at the Tanglewood Music Festival and a fellowship to appear at the Aspen Music Festival with his string quartet. Recently, he was featured performing on the David Letterman and the Rikki Lake shows, and has been a first violinist in the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra since 1990. |
