  BEST OF ... ITALIAN OPERA

  PRESS
  Post-Concert Press:
January 15, 2010 The Star-Ledger; "N.J. Symphony Orchestra grapples with the best in opera"

"Rather than classic dinner-theater arias and duets like 'La donna è mobile' (from Verdi’s 'Rigoletto') or 'O soave fanciulla' (from Puccini’s 'La Bohème'), the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is serving up a more substantial program of overtures, instrumental interludes and choruses at its 'Best of ... Italian Opera' [program]."

  MUSICIAN INSIGHT
  Musician Insight

From a musician's perspective, it's really fun to play the Best of ... programs. It's nice to be able to sample a bunch of works and play different things. I enjoyed the whole Best of ... Italian Opera program. I love the overtures, and Rossini is a favorite of mine. David Wroe did a great job of pulling the program together.

What has really impressed me about the Best of ... series and this concert in particular is how big an audience we see. It's a thrill to see a very full house, and especially to see everybody enjoying the format and the repertoire. I heard fellow musicians saying the same thing; it's great for the spirit. I love these types of programs—bring it on!
