“This weekend, [Hans Graf] will lead the musicians in Berlioz’ ‘Symphonie Fantastique,’ Ibert’s Flute Concerto (with NJSO flutist Bart Feller), and Rossini’s ‘La scala di seta’ overture … Graf last helmed the NJSO in a 2008 concert featuring Arutiunian’s Concerto for Trumpet. He speaks highly of the musicians’ abilities and looks forward to sharing the stage with them for what he calls a work that is ‘still fresh after 200 years.’”

MUSICIAN INSIGHT
Eric Wyrick, Concertmaster |
| |
 |
Musician Insight I thought [Fantastic Obsessions] was a really triumphant start to the season. It was so special to feature [NJSO Principal Flutist] Bart Feller, who gave the best performance of the Ibert Flute Concerto that I've ever heard. What was also great was that we heard our new principal oboe player, Bob Ingliss, playing [Rossini’s La scala di seta Overture]—it’s notoriously difficult for oboe, but he played it effortlessly.
This concert showed so much of the personal strengths of the NJSO individuals, in addition to the great ensemble playing.
